Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gambling is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that features many luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
